Jo Bates Retires from Higgins Electric
Higgins Electric recently announced that one of their longstanding employees, Jo Bates, is retiring from the company. Bates has been with Higgins Electric for more than 20 years and has worked for Jim Knighton, president of the company, since 1976.

One of the most experienced members of the team, Bates has held office position in the company from accounts payable to payroll to receiving clerk. In her time at Higgins, she also served as the Office Manager, where she was responsible for overseeing daily office operations.

“Words can’t express how valuable Ms. Jo has been to this company,” said Jim Knighton, President. “I want to thank her for the time and energy she has dedicated to making Higgins Electric successful and for being a wonderful employee and friend.”

Wiregrass Rehab Center Ribbon Cutting
The Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan, Alabama recently opened the doors of its new facility, a Work Service Center which provides housing and job training for individuals with disabilities. The President of Higgins Electric, Jim Knighton, was honored to be part of the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Center’s dedication on Monday, October 5, 2009. This 90,000 square-foot facility is a testimony to the progress made when a community works together. Higgins Electric is proud to support such a worthy cause.

AWPCA 2009 Conference Highlights and Door Prize Winner!
Higgins Electric participated in the 2009 Alabama Water and Pollution Control Association Coference and Short Course. The Conference was held July 26 - 28 at the Dothan Convention Center. Several hundred participants attended the tradeshow exhibit and conference classes.

During the tradeshow, Higgins Electric gave away a $100 Best Buy Gift Certificate. And the winner was..........(drum roll) DALE MONCRIEF from Montgomery, Alabama.
